2004 Greetings from the
CLASS OF 65
|
I see 2004 as a real year of transition. I am building my dream house I designed on the side of a North Carolina mountain. Intend to step down my law practice a little each year for the next two or three years and then fade away. In the meantime, as soon as the house is finished (was supposed to be March 1 but they are running behind, of course), I plan to sell my Charlotte house and move to the mountain house between Saluda and Flat Rock. Going to turn the basement into a potters studio and start to do something really worthwhile with my life!
I would love to hear from old friends at jdthompson@poynerspruill.com.

I've attached a pic of myself, in case you've all forgotten me. Upon seeing the activity in the photo, my little nephew said, "I want to be just like you when I grow up!" To which I replied, "You mean single...with a rusty Mustang?" He-he, not sure who is rustier these days...the car, or yours truly.
Best Wishes to all for 2004.... Bryan Clark |

I am currently living in Washington DC. I have a Masters in Library Science and I am unemployed for the moment. After Jr College at BBC I married and moved to Illinois for about 12 years. I got divorced and moved home in 1979 and got married and had a baby in 1980. My daughter Tiffany is now 23.(EEK). My parents still live in the same house I grew up in but unfortunatley they are not well and my mother is very very ill. I will be home by Xmas due to this. I am currently unmarried but have lived with a lovely man 22 years younger for about 7 years. Helps keep me young.
If any frends would like to email me I would love to hear from them.

Here's a little update about my current situation. I am the senior minister at New Horizons Christian Church in Winter Garden, FL. (Our website is NewHorizonsChristianChurch.org) I have been with this church for almost 10 years. Also, I recently received a five-year meritorius service award as a Field Chaplain with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
I have been married for almost 35 years. Susan and I have five children--three by the doctor and two by the judge. Four are married and scattered from Alaska to Massachusetts. One is still at home, and she is in college.
I wish all my CBHS classmates a happy and prosperous 2004.

A summary of me to date- Married for the second time in year 2001, never happier. I have four children and two grandchildren and my wife Martha has 4 children and 1 grandchild. However, her daughter is expecting another child in about 8 months and her son is expecting twins about the same time.
I work for Intel so still doing the engineering thing which has been my hobby the industry has paid me to do for the last 30 years or so.
All the best,

I taught English for 30 years and retired in 1999. Since then, I have worked part time for the school system doing their English web site and several other sites (including CBHS Alumni Connection). I also play duplicate bridge and teach a bridge class once a week.
I have been married for the past 19 years to Bob MacCleave, a retired engineer, who also plays and directs bridge. I never had any children (except my 2 adorable cats), so no grandchildren (sob). But being a great aunt to my sister's (Joyce-66) 2 (soon to be 3) grandchildren is a "great" experience.
Since being retired, some of the women in my neighborhood have formed a Red Hat Society group--women over fifty who celebrate the joys of growing older (based on Jenny Joseph's poem "Warning"). We dress in purple and wear red hats to go out to lunch once a month.

Happy New Year! I'm planning to make it the the 2004 reunion. My husband Rob and I are back in Colorado (getting ready to build in southern Colorado) after wandering all over the continent for over a year. We were beach bums for much of the time and I attribute that to my years in CB.
Retirement gives me a chance to stay in touch with my family. My angel daughter, Tudy, and her husband Mark have given me two super grandkids and live in Idaho, my sister April (to my left) lives in Kingston, Canada, my brother (whose shirts at right were his from his wrestling days at CBH) lives in Cody, Wy. and my mom recently moved up there. I'm loving being retired after 37 years in cardiology doing many things but ending up being practice manager.
Stay healthy is all I can say! x0x0x0x0

Dear classmates,
We, (my husband and I) are still living in Beirut, Lebanon (going on 3 years now) and still work with the children’s organization called AWANA that works with local churches. Now our three children are all married - our youngest, our son, bit the dust this past July and is now married to a lovely Christian girl and they are settled in Lubbock Tex. where he has learned to fly jets and is working on building up his flt. hours. This past summer also saw the arrival of 2 more grand children (to our two daughters), making a total of 6. Being overseas is hard on this ole Nana , but getting on in age, (and after 12 years in the Middle East) we are thinking of returning to the US in the next year or so. We get back to C. B. once in awhile but never, it seems, in time to go to a reunion. I look forward to reading about what’s happened to some of my fellow CBHS classmates and Lord willing, perhaps actually getting to see some of you at a future reunion.
Best regards,
Peggy Ramsey Toriz
